The destination URL field in Team Promote

When you decide to create a campaign in Team Promote, one of the fields is called "Destination URL."

In this article, I will clarify its use by giving some examples.

Under the "Destination URL" field, you see written in green:

Please add %ref_id% into the destination URL if it is a referral link.

     For example, http://www.yourcompany.com/referralprogram?id=%ref_id%

Scenario 1: You created a product and sell it on Clickbank

Let's say you created a product and sell it on Clickbank. I can't remember what a Clickbank affiliate link looks like. Clickbank calls it the hoplink. Let's say it looks like this:

          http://www.clickbank.com/moneyproduct/clickbank_username

where money_product is the information produced by Clickbank to designate your product on its marketplace. The affiliates would replace "clickbank_usermame" with their, well, Clickbank username and use it wherever they promote the product. So, for Team Promote, the advertiser will put:

          http://www.clickbank.com/moneyproduct/%ref_id%

in the Destination URL field. What it will allow is, when a click on the order button on the landing page converts to a sale, the promoter who gets the click will also get the commission for the sale. The percentage of the commission was chosen by the advertiser when he put the product in the Clickbank marketplace, and Team Promote has no control over that.

In this scenario, when the advertiser creates the campaign, he must chose the "required" radio button for "Referral ID needed", which in the case here is the affiliate ID, i.e. the Clickbank username that the promoter will provide when he joins the campaign.

The other thing the advertiser must do is to put the link that the promoter must click to join the program to become an affiliate. Here it would be:

          http://www.clickbank.com/

Scenario 2: You are an affiliate for a product sold on Clickbank

This is much simpler. When creating the campaign, the advertiser IS the affiliate, so the Destination URL is:

          http://www.clickbank.com/moneyproduct/clickbank_username

where he puts his Clickbank affiliate ID in place of clickbank_username.

The "Referral ID Needed" radio button is "Not Required." It means that the promoters of this campaign will earn money for the clicks on the order button only.

Scenario 3: You are a distributor for a MLM company and you want to sell a product

Let's take the case of Multi-Pure, since I am familiar with it. You can choose to sell a Multi-Pure product in a campaign.

For Team Promote to work properly, you will need to follow these steps before activating the campaign:
  1. Create a landing page that will give limited information about the product, and the customer will click on the "Order" button to reach an order page.
  2. Create the "order page" where he will get more information and the phone number to call Multi-Pure to order the product. Your distributor ID must be on the this 2nd page.
The landing page is necessary for Team Promote to track the clicks and distribute the cash reward accordingly at the end of the campaign.

Scenario 4: You want to recruit people for your downline

For a company such as Multi-Pure, repeat the steps described in the Scenario 3, but write the landing page to offer a business opportunity, and create a "join" page instead of an order page.

For programs where you can join online, the "join" page is not necessary, since the "join now" button will use your referral link to bring the potential referral to the "join" page of the program to fill his information.

Joining a campaign

When promoters join a campaign at Team Promote through scenarios 2 to 4, they have 3 fields to fill:
  1. First name
  2. Last name
  3. Email address
With scenario 1, an additional field is required: the referrer or affiliate ID, for the promoter to get the commission when a customer buys through his link.

Conclusion

Team Promote has been designed to accommodate all these scenarios. The landing page can be edited by each promoter if he has different ideas on how to promote the program or product, but he can't use HTML tags to put links, so only the "order" or "join" button can be used to buy or join. This is to make sure the advertiser gets the clicks for his own referral or affiliate ID, and it allows Team Promote to track the clicks and distribute the cash reward in proportion to the promoters' efforts.

All scenarios allow promoters to make money. Only in scenario 1 can promoters can also make money through commissions.
