Credibility - Are You Building It Or Destroying It?
In the industry of MLM/Network marketing and internet marketing, we all hear the word "Credibility". Most of the time we try to figure out how best to build it, and what to avoid so as not to lose it.
A quick look into what it means - The quality, capability, or power to elicit belief.(thefreedictionary.com)
Looking at the above definition, you will notice that the end product (or word) attached to credibility is "Belief". If you are someone who is looking to achieve success in this profession, you need to establish a good degree of belief in the eyes of people.
People follow leaders, and when someone is trying to fake it to make it, he/she will be soon be found out and his/her credibility will be lost.
I have to say that I am guilty of trying hard to push my business in front of people; but that was in the past. Until I realized that for me to be able to attract people to me, I have to give them value. I have to provide a solution. And how do I go about this? Through proper and effective communication, building genuine relationships with them, and paying attention to their needs.
I'll be lying if I say I know it all; but what I know is what I share. My credibility in the eyes of people is worth more than having a thousand websites with "amazing" products/tools for business. If people don't like me or trust me, then my website, products/tools are useless.
We have to understand that we are dealing with people here, and that means they will be offended if people do not treat them with respect. When I started my autoresponder campaign, I was pretty much spamming everyone on my list. That alone showed my lack of experience, discipline and respect for others (I have learnt my lesson).
Building good credibility is very important to any business person (Online or offline), and we have to avoid carrying on doing the same things over and over, and expecting a good result. Consistency in wrong doing will produce failure. Below are some of the things we need to avoid doing if we want to build good credibility:
- Spamming (Unsolicited emails)
- Talking about your company at every given opportunity (Get to know people first)
- Showing desperation to your prospects
- Hiding behind robots (Software/tools), and ripping people off.
- Providing people with the wrong information.
There are lots more, but these are the major ones I know about. So let's always strife to build a good reputation, integrity and credibility.
