My thoughts about APSense Talents

I think the idea is great, both for people that want to earn from their talents, people that need to outsource tasks and for all APSense members that now can earn money simply by pasting the code for the APSense widget on their site.

However I have some reservations for some of them. In regards of determination of quality of service and payments.

I.e.

  • translations: suppose i would purchase a translation from English to Chinese? I would not be able to determin if this translation is correct. LOL it would have to ask Wincer to proof read. Unless the persons that offers is a certified translater. Anyone can make translations with an online translator. I can't see the difference between a translation made by a person or a machine if it is a language i do not know at all. If I would put a bad translation on my site, this would reflect negative on me.
  • designwork: when somebody creates a design for somebody else, regardless a banner or a website, the designer puts time and effort in it. But taste is a personal thing. The one who purchased the design can say: I don't like it. Which would not be fair to the designer.
I think therefore in design jobs that are offered, designers must write clearly what information they need from the person that want to purchase this talent like colours, size, theme, text, etcetera. The designer should in my opinion state his/her visions what happens if the purchaser does not like the design.
In general for talents like tweeting, ilikes, backlinks and such it would be fair to supply the buyer some kind of report where he/she can check this.

The admins of APSense review purchased talents that are rated unsufficient. Since I know most of them pretty wel I know they are all integer persons that will perform this task in a fair way. I would interest me to know what criteria they use to determin if a bad rated talent is legitimate or not. It seems to me there are a lot of talents in a grey area, also because the descriptions are in my opnion often poor or incomplete. I would not like to be in an admins shoes for this particular task.

However many talents are only 5 dollar so it is a small risk to take to purchase one. It is often also a question of trust. The risk will become smaller when the service is online longer and there are more ratings.
