How To Rank Your Articles On Search Engines
If you are serious to rank your blog on first page of various search
engines then all you have to do is tweak your article a bit with the
below mentioned elements and the rest will be done by the search
engines.
I will explain what you need to do to get your articles rank higher on search engines. It can be on any niche ! Give it a try and check the results. Whenever you write an articles on a blogger blog or word-press blog or even on a word file, just keep these elements in mind and you will see the difference in the ratio of traffic that your blog generates. So let's begin:
1. Title of the topic - The title of your topic should contain your main keyword. If you plan to write something on Make Money Online or Google Cash or Data Entry. Check the response for each keyword on a keyword tool. You can find free keyword research tool on the internet. This will help you to search for keywords which are most sought after depending on your niche. 10% of your job is already done here.
2. Keywords (primary and secondary) - In the second phase, you need to work on your primary keyword and secondary keyword. For example, you choose to write an article on Data Entry then use the keyword research tool and find the most popular keyword in this category. This would be your primary keyword. The secondary keyword would be those which are in the same line but less popular like online data entry, form filling, copy paste and ad posting. 20% job is complete.
3. Meta title, meta description and meta keywords - If you are good at HTML, this would make a lot of sense to you, for those who don't understand the importance of these elements, I suggest you use readily available plug-ins or applications. If you are using word-press, install the all in one seo plug-in and watch their tutorial on you-tube. It will explain the functionality of the plug-in. In layman terms meta title means the title of the article which should include both primary and secondary keywords. Meta description means describing the articles in few words and meta keywords means adding your primary and secondary keyword for better search optimization for example data entry (pk), copy paste job (sk), online form filling (sk), ad posting (sk). This completes 30% of drafting your article for search engine optimization.
4. Heading Tags like H1, H2, H3 - In the third phase, make it a point to add at least one primary keyword in the headline tag i.e. H1 and add secondary keyword in the sub heading tags like H2 & H3 for example:
Free Data Entry Job Available
Try copy paste and form filling job [it is easier than you think]
Make $2 for every ad posting
This completes 40% of you work while drafting your article.
5. Length of the article (200 to 400 words) - Pick a niche you can talk about and it can be anything from sports to hobbies or business. While drafting your article, try to use as much vocabulary as possible. Do not stuff your article with too much primary and secondary keywords. The length of a blog could vary from 200 words to 350 +. Stay on the topic all the time and do not deviate. Articles with 350+ words rank better on search engines than others. Hope you get the point! Now you are through with 50%.
6. Keyword density - Adding too much primary and secondary keyword will increase the density of the keywords in your article. The density should not exceed more than 4% in many cases the maximum should be 5%. You can check the keyword density of your article with the free keyword density tool found on the internet. Remember, your article needs to connect with people who are reading it. Too much focus on SEO can ruin your effort. With this your 60% work is complete.
7. Image with alt description - Adding an image to an existing article is considered good from the point of search engine optimization. So if you are writing an article on friendship and the image which you upload is named as 123.jpg/png/gif. Prefer to change the name to something like friends.jpg or best-friends.png or true friends.gif. Do this prior to uploading your image on the blog. Alt Description means alternate name or description of the image file. This completes 70% of the work.
8. Adding keyword in the last sentence of your article - While writing the last paragraph of the article, make it a point to add your primary keyword in the last sentence of the article. 80% job is done with this element.
9. Linking your article with another article in your own blog - After you have drafted your article, add an internal link of another article in the same blog. Chances are that your readers may wish to scroll to your next topic if they find the current topic interesting. The more time they spend reading article on your website, the less bounce rate your site will receive. Your readers may even be prompted to click on similar articles posted by Google ads or other advertisers increasing the percentage of click through on your blog and generating some revenue. This element completes 90% work.
10. Ping your blog to search engines - Last but not the least, ping your blog to search engines after your have published your article. If you are using word-press then you can add plug-ins like ping optimizer or pingler which will ping your blog to 90+ search engines. Ping helps to inform search engine that you have recently updated a new post on your blog and in due time the search engine crawlers will track your article. This way you can get some free traffic from the search engine source. 100% job is done !
I personally use a SEO plug-in which does all the work for me which I explained here. It is a word-press paid plug-in which I use on my self hosted word-press blog. You can find the link in the footer of my blog. The plug-in shows the SEO score while I am drafting an article. With just 8 articles, my blog ranked on the first page of Google for the keyword " monetize blog traffic " on 23rd December.
Terms:
pk - primary keyword
sk - secondary keyword
