The meaning of Christmas
In it's literal sense it means the birth of Christ. In it's applicable sense it means the time of good cheer, good will toward man(woman), etc.
Somehow that got lost and it became about a jolly old man white that travels the world on a sled of reindeer giving gifts to all the children that have been good. Supposedly he has a list of names of all children and he checks to see who has been naughty and who has been nice.
This story will inevitably spark debate, but that is not my intent. I to grew up believing in Santa, and raised my two daughters to believe in Santa as well.
But they are teenagers now so that ho ho ho feeling is not the same.
I got to thinking about this season and what Christmas is supposed to mean and what it has actually become.
If you are a Christian than this is one of the happiest times of the year, it is the day that our dear savior was born. To commemorate or celebrate, it's a time when we demonstrate our love for our family, and friends by showering them with gifts.
This time of year is supposed to be about good will toward man(woman), but then I see the news cast on television and observe what is happening around the world.
Sickness, suffering, hunger, poverty. That's just in the USA. Globally I read about and see famine, drought, WAR, and of course sickness, suffering, hunger, poverty.
Making money is wonderful! It helps us have a better quality of life and have some great things, and see some of the wonderful things that God has created for us here on earth. BUT, how much money is enough?
Is it right for the wealth of the entire world to be owned and controlled by less than 1% of the earth's population while the other 99% ranger anywhere from comfortable to poverty stricken?
People have blasted Bill Gates for being a MF, but after he stepped down as Chairman of Microsoft he donated billions to provide medical care to some of the poorest nations on earth. Warren Buffet followed and just last week Mark Zuckburg (yes that Mark Zuckburg the Founder of Facebook) has also joined that exclusive club.
What makes this even more extraordinary is that they are not "willing" there money, meaning they are not writing a will and making there billions available after they die, they are donating these vast amounts of money NOW. That is an awesome thing. And weather you area Christian or not, this act embodies the true spirit of the meaning of Christmas.
God bless them for these acts of benevolence. Never in the history of mankind have the wealthy stepped up like this.
Now, this is not to be compared to or even tied in to the same category, but you could help a newbie internet marketer out to. All you have to do is build your list. I know it sounds confusing but it's not. If you sign up for the APSense Christmas Giveaway, about to open on December 13, upload an ebook, a report, some software or other digital product that you have just collecting dust on your desktop, and give it away. While you may think it is old and rehashed and or even out dated, someone else could actually benefit from it. The internet is world wide and we in the more industrialized nations see things with blinders sometimes. So yes, what is old news to us may be new to someone else. There are new people coming online everyday and those may not have seen the item you think is no longer any good.
I'm just asking, what is The meaning of Christmas to you?
