How to Make a MySpace Page for Your Small Business
MySpace was one of the first popular social networking sites. It won a huge response from artists, musicians and a younger audience. However, MySpace has grown up over the years. It now offers many benefits for small business owners. You can create a MySpace Page for your small business. Here?s how:
#1 Sign up. Visit MySpace.com and click on the ?sign up? link. The link is in the upper right hand corner of the page. It?s free.
#2 You?ll be asked to provide the following information:
* Email Address:
* Password:
* Full Name:
* Date Of Birth:
* Gender:
Use your business email address so all communications from MySpace connections go there. Use your personal name, not your business name. This is how people search for connections on social networking sites. They don?t search for business names. They?re looking to make personal connections.
#3 Once you?ve signed up and confirmed your membership you?ll be taken to your MySpace account. You click on ?Profile? and begin creating your profile. You have the option to customize a theme or use a theme template. Here you can choose a theme that represents your business best. Or you can hit the internet and search for custom themes to upload. Finally, you can hire someone to create a custom theme for your business.
#4 Your Profile. You?ll be asked to upload a photo. You can skip it if you don?t have a personal photo of yourself to upload. If you do, go ahead and upload it now. Experts recommend not using a logo or business graphic but rather a picture of yourself. Again, people are looking to connect with a person, not a business.
#5 Invite friends? You can skip this step for now and go back to it later once your profile has been completed.
#6 Edit your profile. You can now add information to your profile. Click on the ?Edit Profile link. You can answer the questions. Make sure your answers support your business vision and mission. From your MySpace editing page you will be able to do many things. Edit your profile, upload photos, change account settings, edit comments, check email, manage friends and more.
When you?re done, click "Submit".
#7 Privacy settings. Click on "Account Settings." You?ll see a list of privacy settings. Go ahead and set them as you?d like. Generally if you?re looking to build brand awareness for your business you?ll want a fairly public presence. When you?re finished managing your settings click "Change" at the bottom of the page.
#8 Your URL. Click on "Click Here" in the box that says "Pick your MySpace Name/URL." This is where you will choose the address of your MySpace profile. The address is what you send to people so they can find your profile. Choose carefully, this will be your profile name.
#9 Begin using the features. MySpace is regularly adding features. You can now blog, share your profile on other social networking sites and add events, games and applications.
Creating a MySpace page for your business is a simple task. Using it for your business takes goals, a plan and dedication. To make any social networking site an effective business building tool you must be active and engaged with other members.
To your success!
