Black Friday or Cyber Monday?
Wow, I'm amazed at all of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday
marketing campaigns going on this over the next few days. I couldn't help but want to say a few words about it.
Now, I grew up with "Black Friday". When I was a kid, I used to think it had something to do Wwith death and dying. Perhaps a day to honor the dead of the Black Plague? Or, a day for blacks to have their own special day? You have to remember, this was early 1970's and I lived in a very small oklahoma town where back then, all the "negroes" lived on their own side of town, it seemed only reasonable to me that they should have their own day too. ;)
But, now I know better about a lot of things, and Black Friday and Cyber Monday are now seemingly a part of my normal vocabulary and I know fellow marketers are scrambling right now to get as many holiday sales as they can, hoping to end the year in profit, after another slightly dismal 2010.
I'll be sitting back this weekend enjoying the show and figuring out my own Cyber Tactics. How about you? Are you doing anything special in regard to this weekend with your business? I'd love to get a line from everyone here about how they're taking ahold of opportunity for the weekend. I think it would be fun to know.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Don't forget to relax this weekend and step away from your computer screen every once in a while to hug your family. :)
