Another work at home option

To become an independent distributor with a company is to sell the company?s products or services independently, without becoming a company employee. Many at-home businesses are independent distributorships. At-home independent distributors, for a percentage of the product price, distribute the company product. Becoming an at home independent distributor takes commitment, discipline, and several hours of work per day.

Get some basic tools of investigation and start your search for the perfect distributor to start a home based business. Find some paper and a pen to take notes. Get in front of your computer with your phone in hand for calling potential partners.

Compile a list of potential companies and products. Look for testimonials, compensation plan, and any cost involved. Search rip off and scam reporting web sites for negative feedback about the company. Be sure to include the Better Businesses Bureau in sites to search for company feedback. Locate other distributors and contact them for a personal review. You will want to know how long they have been with the company, how the company handles questions from distributors, if they have a mandatory auto ship, and any other questions that you may need answers. There are no stupid questions. If you do not know the answer, ask.

Visit the chosen company?s website. Look for the requirements for becoming an independent distributor. Gather required information such as a resume, references, tax identification number or Social Security Number. Find out if there are any fees involved to become an independent distributor and what the fees are for. For example, some companies require an independent distributor to purchase a kit of products for demonstration, or charge a nominal fee for company record keeping.

Locate the contact information for managers that are available to assist new distributors. Contact a manager for clarification of any terms or conditions that are not understood. Inquire about the compensation plan and any bonuses the company offers independent distributors.

Now that the research is done and the company is chosen, visit the company website. Look for an enrollment application. Fill out the enrollment application and submit it online or print and mail or fax the application. Make sure all information and required fees are included with the enrollment application. There will be a waiting period of several days to a couple weeks to verify the application.

Once approved, all of the company information will be available. Most companies offer an online office for their at-home independent distributors. This may include down-loadable fliers, business cards, company information and even selling scripts or fact sheets to assist their independent distributors.
