Creating Traffic But Not Conversions

Are you creating traffic to your website but not getting any conversions.  Most people are using traffic exchanges, text ad exchanges and safe list marketing to create traffic to there site.  If this is what you are using, there are a few things which could be creating this trend.

1.  The average online marketer is a little more savvy than a couple of years ago.  They will no longer jump on any and every opportunity, especially if there is a monetary investment involved in the transaction.

2.  I read somewhere a person will need to see an advertisement 7 times before they will actually take time to look at it.  So, if you think about that, you need to spend 7 viewing credits on each person before they really take a look at your business.

3.  The normal conversion rate via traffic exchanges and safe lists is around 1%.  If you are getting a higher conversion rate than that you are doing good.

4.  I have been told you will need to get your ad viewed 10,000 times before you can really tell if it is being successful or if it is a flop.  That's a lot of wasted credits if you have a flop on your hands.

Maybe there is a better way to increase your conversion rate.  It isn't as easy as just posting a link on a traffic exchange or sending a mailing at a safe list.  But, if you take time to establish yourself as as online presence, then people will seek you out.  They will be asking you what to join.  You can do this by participating in forums, creating your own blog, article marketing and social networking.

This doesn't mean just jump in and start posting links.  You have to be knowledgeable so choose subjects which you can contribute to the conversation with a valid point.  As a friend of mine says, "It is like putting out little bread crumbs which lead them back to you."  This isn't fast marketing but it is much more effective and I guarantee your conversion rate will start to climb when people are asking you for a referral link instead of you offering it to them.
