How?s this for green? A renewable 'energy source' that will never run out?  Well I just found out about one reading a local weekly newspaper called San Antonio Current.  On page 10 you will find a standard offering of Current called TheQueque.  As I read my first thought was "What the_____?" (Feel free to fill in the blank with whichever word or phrase you feel fits best)

It seems that San Antonio Water System-SAWS to us big city Texans has entered into a partnership with a company called Ameresco.  It seems we folks living here in the Alamo city are full of um, 'biosolids' more commonly as You Know What.  And on top of that our 'biosolids' are just loaded with methane.  Now up until this point in time San Antonio has dealt with the whole issue of biosolid produced Methane with the old college prank involving a Bic lighter strategically placed near the rear of the student who eats too many beans.  Yes the old "Flammable Fart" trick.

Now however thanks to Ameresco and SAWS our biosolids will go to good use!  The Dos Rios water recycling center is open!  Let me just say here that San Antonio already has been using our 'biosolids' and 'bioliquids' for some time now.  Water used for irrigation in a large part of the city is generously donated by the good citizens of San Antonio through collection points called toilets.  The fertilizer is collected in much the same way.  And now they are collecting our methane.

Yep, how's that for NATURAL gas.  An estimated 900,000 cubic feet per day!  But wait they are going to sell it on the open market!  Who needs an oil well when the city of San Antonio is doing it part to make the world a greener place.  So who knows? Maybe I'll be helping you keep your home nice and toasty this winter, or even helping you roast that Thanksgiving turkey!  I'm doing my part.

So be thankful that I'm full of 'IT'.  However donations of Metamucil, Ex-lax and fiber would not be unwelcome.  Got to do my part to create my half gallon or so daily contribution!
