The reason this software is so popluar, besides the fact that is 100% free, is the vast number of plugins and tools created by loyal users that make wordpress more than a simple blogging platform.And if you think of wordpress as just a blogging software, than you are missing out on some truely amazing functionality. If you are not a web designer and do not have the cash to pay an expert to develop an awesome dynamic site for you, you can simply install wordpress and have a beautiful and highly functional website in a couple of hours.Wordpress is completely template driven so that you can change it's look and appearance in minutes. There are thousands of free themes (thats wordpress speak for templates) to choose from. If you want a magazine style website, there are themes that make your site look like a magazine. Want to have a recipe site? There are themes for that to, a sports blog, it's in there.Of course the primary reason that wordpress was developed was for blogging, but the software has developed and is so far advanced that you can use it as a complete website site. And because it is a blogging platform, it was designed with the "ping" in mind. You may already know that one of the best ways to get high search engine and traffic ranking is by having a blog.
