Downsizing the Company Cafeteria

Businesses are cutting corners where ever they can. They are always looking for ways to cut back on expenses. One way that I have noticed is that larger companies are replacing  their cafeterias with vending machine.

When I was in the insurance business I would go to the work site. In many of the large companies they would have full cafeteria service. Many of these companies were in rural areas located to far out to make it practical for anyone to leave for lunch. You had 2 choices..... brown bag it, or go to the cafeteria.

While looking for ways to cut costs many companies are replacing their cafeteria with vending machines.

These would not be just your typical vending machines that you see on a regular basis. These vending machines would offer not only fresh food but also a  variety of packaged frozen foods.

The fresh food would be just the type of food that had been served in the cafeteria, but now is it being prepared outside of the building from local businesses. The vending operator would be able to supply a wide range of items because he would be able to go to different local sandwich and salad makers. Different establishments that cater to different ethnic groups. As for the frozen food machine... Anything could go in that, from a main course to ice cream.

The company would no longer need cafeteria workers to prepare and cook the food or even to serve it. With a variety of special food vending machines as well as coffee machines and of course the typical candy, snack, soda, water, and juice machine the entire cafeteria would only need personnel to keep the place tidy.

The sole responsibility would be on the vending operator. He would own the machine as well as stock the machine and keep them serviced. Replacing a cafeteria with a bay of vending machines is being looked at by many larger companies that have existing cafeterias.

People who had been eating food from the cafeteria before would not necessarily notice any price difference because they would have been use to paying cafeteria food
prices.

A vending machine is great to offer not only the workers of a business but also guests that visit too. There is a vending machine for all locations.
