The way to successful SEO (part 2)
Search Engine-Friendly Web design
In Part 1 of this series I talked about two
obvious things for good SEO; finding the right keywords and link building. Part
2 is about a designing a web sites so that the search engines can find the site
and analyze it. The facts presented below are very important for SEO but not so
obvious to many web designers.
Html must be performed correctly, this is very
important to SEO and online marketing. All search engine software’s are designed to look for relevant information
and unique text on websites built with Html.
It is a good idea to use attractive things
like Flash-objects in a few places on the website, to get people’s attention. But
to use such things on a whole website is out of the question if you want to
build a search engine adapted website.
Simplicity should be the main focus when designing
a website, if you want the search engines to find it. When your website rank
higher in the search results for your keywords and search terms, you know it's
been done right.
A trendy and flashy website is found
attracting by many visitors and some come back, even if it's only to watch the
wonder that is your website again. Many web designers tend to forget that a whole load of these websites aren't
found by the search engines, they simply can't follow the links.
The structure of the links within the pages on the website is also very important, to help
the search engine find the content, everywhere on the website.
Ok, Search Engines can find, analyze and
understand what your web site is about. But what about the users, your
visitors? No need to worry because, what's needed for a Search
Engine Optimized website often matches with what you need when
building a website for the user.
User-friendly Web design
You should go for a simple and clear
information, on the right place. Shortest possible way between the front page
and the product or information wanted. The main idea with the design should be
to make it easier for the visitor to find the product or information which he
or she is looking for. There you see, the exact same thing as with Search
Engines!
Many of the bigger companies have websites
which completely shuts big groups of people out, something which isn't good. People
are looking for websites available for everybody.
The website should of course be easy to
edit, or add content to. There is a whole bunch of editing and publishing
tools. Only a few of these are constructed to enable search
engine friendly updates.
