Alzheimers and Me - Supplement

Hello All,

I just wanted to let you all know about something... special and sad at the same time. And a small glitch in the whole thing...

Sunday, March 30th is Mom and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary.  Dad wants this year to be a HUGE deal, not just because of the 50 years... but he is afraid that next year, Mom won't know the significance of the date of 3/30.  That makes me cry :(

The really cool thing is; I "kidnapped" Dad yesterday afternoon and we went shopping. Dad had mentioned to my sister that he needed help with Mom's gift to celebrate 50 years as husband and wife. And like most men, Dad had no idea what to get. So my sister and I visited about it, and decided that a new ring was in order. We presented the idea to Dad and thought it sounded like a good idea.

So off we went, with Mom wondering what the heck was going on. LOL! After hitting EVERY jewelry store in the mall, AND me modeling every ring for him (Mom and I's ring size is not exact, but close, plus Dad swiped one of Mom's rings (by my request)), Dad settled for a GLORIOUS, CLASSY, 5 diamond ring... one stone for each decade they've been married. The ring is wrapped up in a gorgeous package, which is sitting on my dresser. Mom is gunna be so surprised and Dad is really going to be in trouble for spending so much money. LOL.

Now here's the glitch. Dad had planned to take Mom to Branson Missouri for a special anniversary trip. They were going to leave tomorrow, and return late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. And no party was planned - Until last Thursday, when Dad was eating and thought he had stuck something between a tooth and the gum line. He suffered all weekend with it, and finally called the dentist yesterday (monday am). He went into the dentist office and the dentist didn't have such great news. Seems some of the meds that Dad takes dries his mouth out, severely. So dad has been eating peppermint hard candies to help with the dry mouth. So now he has cavities in every tooth on the bottom (the top teeth are a plate). And one tooth will need a root canal.

Anyhoo, the trip was canceled so they could pay for the tooth work. They have supplemental insurance, but Dad said it wasn't so great. :(  Since I thought they would be outta town, I didn't ask off on the 30th. Oops. Now I've got to figure out how to put together a party AND work on Sunday. Double oops. Well, wish me luck :)

Well, that's all for now. As usual, thanks for listening. :0)

Lisa :)
