My friend Marsha thinks she is a Polar Bear!
Yes, it's true. My friend Marsha from Kansas City in darkest Missouri thinks she is a Polar Bear!
She does this every year! There is nothing we can do to stop her.
The reason she has this problem is that every year in early February she takes part in the Polar Bear Plunge to raise money for the Special Olympics Fund.
She and about 300 other other nuts brave the freezing water of the Longview Lake in Kansas City, MO and raise money through sponsorship. This odd part about it is that they ENJOY it. They all get dressed up in fancy dress to do the jump. Last year they had to break through 4 inches of ice to get i! I hope they all have good medical insurance.
Special Olympics Missouri was founded in 1971. What began as a track meet with a few hundred disabled athletes has grown to serve more than 14,000 athletes with 154 competitions annually. They rely solely on donations from generous individuals and businesses to provide world-class experiences for the athletes.
Please be a fan by supporting this special event. I have done so already - anything rather than jump!
