Recognition jumps up and bites you in the rear when you least expect it!
I got a good dose of recognition this morning. Earlier around 8am my phone rings. It's from Corporate office. From my years with the police dept early morning calls usually fall into one of two categories bad news, "Cheryl it's random drug testing time again please report to the lab to donate your sample" or a problem "Cheryl how do I....?"
So of course the first thing that went through my mind was "What did I do now?" It turns out that I had responded to an e-mail sent out by our Founder and CEO Harland Stonecipher wanting feedback on our webcast. One of Mr Stonecipher's assistants was calling to ask me to join the speakers on this morning's Leadership Conference call. Of course I said yes, this is a major honor!
In the Grand scheme of things this is tantamount to having a whale call the guppy and say "Hey want to swim in our pod for a while?" What a great experience although I must admit I was shaking in my house slippers.
After an introduction by Mr Stonecipher, I was on. Boy was that nerve wracking. A dozen of the top millionaires in the company hanging on my every word, not to mention the thousands of my fellow associates throughout the U.S. and Canada. Nerve wracking, exhilarating and the feeling of "Hey I did something right"
Of course it did create a monster, this guppy liked "swimming with the whales!"
