I looked for a smile.
I found a tear!
A little urchin
Peeped in through
The window glass.
A soiled finger
Rubbed off the teardrop
That rolled down her sad eyes.
Mam, give me one rupee, i m hungary.
I groped for coins
In my loaded handbag.
But, each time pulled out
Only big notes.
Mam, give hurry ! i want 2 eat chapati.
The car behind me
Honked impatiently!
The traffic light had
Changed to green!
My mobile started ringing,
Showing the office number.
Oops! I was getting late.
I threw my car into first gear,
Then into the second, third
And finally
The fourth gear!!
The little hand pushed off rudely,
The sad eyes haunting me
As I sped across
The madding crowd.
I reached office finally,
Just 10 minutes late.
Mam, plz give me one rupee,
The small voice ringing
In my ears as
I sat in the meeting room.
Pasting a smile
On my face,
To discuss a matter of
Only a few crores!!
