Free-For-All Sites and Email Spam
Free-For-All Idea, Good or Bad?
By: Teodor M Muntean
Have you ever tried to submit your web site to free-for-all sites? Almost anyone who has tried submitting to FFA traffic-generating sites will say that they are no longer worth the effort.
Most of Automated FFA submission sites are only "visited" by automated submission scripts and not by human eyes. So, the only thing these auto submission tools achieve is to get your mail address bombarded with "confirmation" emails from the FFA page holders.
Many credulous users who submitted their personal email address to FFA have suffered incredible frustrations because of the big amount of spam they receive.
However, I’m one of this "victims" of the confirmation spam and, as Karen Weir suggested, I’ve managed to turn the tables around with a very ingenious twist to the process.
I basically submitted my web site using the FFA auto submission tool and agreed to get the "thousands" of confirmatory emails, but submitted an e-mail address that led to an autoresponder that replied back to these emails with the following text:
"Thank you for your offer which I'm considering... and will read it and respond asap. In the meantime, please have a look at my web site yourself to this free marketing tool: http://www.nosecretmarketing.com.
Kind Regards,
Teodor“
Also, Google and Yahoo mail has “Vacation Setting†option so it’s easy to do it. Outlook Express also has message rule function which we can use to achieve a similar effect. Simply click on tools / message rules / mail / mail rules / new / where the message is from the specified account (the e-mail account you intend to receive confirmatory spam with) /reply with message, then specify the message you want to reply with.
Don't forget to also freely distribute your Google / Yahoo email address to multiple mailing lists, classified ads sites, and anywhere that is likely to get your address "spammed".
The best part is when "spambots" and bulk e-mail address harvesters pick up your email address and you'll be promoting your site to many people with absolutely no effort on your part at all! My subscriber list is bigger now but still have to work to get my email addresses to spambots.
