Advertising Desperation

Advertising, by default, creates a sense of desperation. "I need to sell this thing", "I need to get sign-ups", "Buy me, Buy me, Buy me"...

The internet is full of "Desperate Advertisers" selling the same old thing to the same group of people.

In the end, people will buy from those they have developed a relationship with more than from a "Buy Me" advertisement they have read in passing.

The reality is, these days there is No need to advertise online at all. Web 2.0 allows for programs like APsense to be used to develop relationships with people through - articles, blogs and mail contacting - without mentioning a product or service.

For example, some people reading this blog will say "This guy doesn't know what he's on about" and will leave without so much as a vote.

Others will visit, disagree and give this blog a Thumbs down.

But some will visit and think this actually makes sense and might visit my profile, etc and perhaps even add me to their contacts. Over time these people may have a product they feel would benefit me and i might have something similar that would benefit them.

Needless to say, This blog will, at some stage result in someone adding me to their contact list which will in turn build a business relationship that is by FAR more profitable than it would have been had i pasted a 5 line ad trying to flog my wares...
