Sri Lanka is famous for its beautiful and rich cultural diversity, with a mixed ritual and traditions. The cultural legacy is reflected in its food, art, sculptures, and architecture. Sri Lanka Foundation, a nonprofit organization in LA, is promoting Sri Lankan culture in the United States. This organization was started in 2003 by Dr. Walter Jayasinghe, a well-known Sri Lankan-American physician in Los Angeles. Every year, SLF hosts several events to showcase Sri Lankan culture in a foreign country.

Sri Lanka day

SL day is one of the most popular events hosted by Sri Lanka Foundation. The event is especially admired among food and shopping lovers. As we all know that this beautiful island is known for its exotic and scrumptious dishes, SL day provides visitors an opportunity to taste different kinds of cuisines.

Awards ceremony

This particular event is hosted by Sri Lankan Foundation to distinguish and honor Sri Lankan expatriates from across the world. For more than a decade, the foundation has honored some of the most gifted awardes from various fields such as artists, doctors, scientists, lawyers, and Entrepreneurs.

Apart from above two major events, SLF also organizes some other programs like The Young Expatriate Sri Lankans (YES!) World Youth Conference, Fashion Show, and the annual Miss Sri Lanka America beauty pageant.

Music and dance

SLF performing art center is offering its dance classes on weekends. The course is open to both kids and adults. People who’re interested in playing drums can also join the performing art center in LA.

Sri Lankan Language Classes in Los Angeles

Sri Lanka Foundation is also encouraging expatriate Sri Lankan people in the United States to learn and speak the Sinhalese language, the mother tongue of Sri Lanka. The SLF Performing art center provides language classes as well.
