Be The Creature Or To Sell Or Not To Sell

It depends on what you are selling whether you need to sell or be the creature.
Think about it. Firstly ask yourself what you are trying to accomplish and secondly ask yourself what it is that people want. Then, place yourself in their shoes. Speaking of shoes...

Lets say you walk into a shoe store and you are searching for a special pair of shoes that is going to match your outfit perfectly. After all, it's your wedding and you need that once in a life-time pair of shoes. Everything MUST be perfect! So in you go to the shoe store browsing. A shoe salesman walks up to you and ask if he can be of help. You tell him what you are looking for and he looks at you like you are crazy and mumbles something and points at one of the isles. You wonder off in the direction he pointed, you browse, and as you begin to walk out of the store....another salesman walks up to you 'Could you not find what you were looking for? he ask. You reply 'no. and he proceeds to point at his name tag and tell you he is George. George tells you to come right this way and ask you your shoe size. The next thing you know you and George is talking up a storm about your wedding. He pulls several pairs of shoes from the shelf and you even try some of them on. You tell George, 'these are nice shoes but none are what I am looking for. George smiles and walks you to the front of the store and points you to a shoe store across the street.....he tells you he believes the shoe store across the street has what you are looking for. You thank him and go across to the other shoe store.

Sure enough, George was correct. You found the shoes you were looking for. Your wedding was wonderful. Although those shoes were very pricey, it was worth it.

A few months later you need some new tennis shoes. You go to the pricey store or do you go to the store where 'George' is at? Most people will head straight to George. George finds you a great deal on some tennis shoes. In fact, every time you need shoes, you are not only going to go to that shoe store you are going to be LOOKING FOR GEORGE.

George is the creature. He lost the sale for the wedding shoes you were looking for. Nothing he could do about that ..... except point you in the right direction. And that IS what you needed.

The problem many people encounter online is they simply refuse to BE THE CREATURE. These people want to post an advert link and tell you its the best thing since slice bread. But they refuse to be the creature.

To be the creature means to help people GET WHAT THEY WANT. When you learn to do that, you will build contacts, make friends, build long lasting relationships, and they will return to you time and time and time again.

A long time ago a top internet marketer told me 'just sell Valerie just sell'. I never found that to be right for me. I suppose it must have worked wonderful for him. Of course, it depends on what you are selling, what service or products, how or where you are advertising. You cannot post a classified ad and do much other than sell. However, you can be the creature in social networking and within your own sites and blogs, within your communications and replies to emails.

Learn to be the creature. It works for me and I believe it works for everyone.
