I had Sauerkraut for Breakfast
I love sauerkraut. I especially love MY sauerkraut.
Few people can make it as good as I can.
At least that is my humble opinion.
Friday when I went to the grocery store they had 2# bags of sauerkraut on sale. Well the taste buds took over and I picked up 3 bags and a pound and a half of ground Italian sausage..... sounds good already doesn't it?
Saturday morning I got out my crock pot and started to put things together.
This is what I did.
3 2# bags of sauerkraut rinsed WELL and I squeezed out all excess moisture
Browned and drained the Italian Sausage
I am guessing I chopped up about 5 cups of onions.
2 10 oz. cans cream of chicken soup
1 stick of margarine
1/4 cup brown sugar
Mixed altogether and let cook all day and all night on low.
I stirred it occasionally.
So this morning when I got up the house was filled with the wonderful smell of sauerkraut.
I have had 2 bowls already.
I am waiting for it to cool so I can freeze it in small containers.
I hope it cools off fast because if I leave it set on the counter to long I just may eat the whole crock pot full.
So how does that sound to you?
It made my husband about gag.... he does not know the finer things in life
such as a good dish of sauerkraut
