No matter how high-quality your nano ring hair extensions are and how well they are attached, proper care is recommended to make them last longer. With maintenance, nano rings should last up to five months and possibly more! And given their cost, it makes sense to ensure that you care for them well enough to ensure longevity and to preserve their appearance. Likewise, you will want to avoid anything that could compromise their quality and result in their premature removal.

There are different ways to maintain and care for nano rings effectively. Read this guide to know what they are:

Avoid swimming in chlorinated water

Swimming pool water is often chlorinated, which is bad not just for natural hair, but also to hair extensions. Chlorine damages the cuticle layers of the micro-ring extensions and the natural hair, resulting in matting and drying out. If you must swim, put your hair up and keep it out of the water. Moreover, reduce your time in the pool or find a non-chlorinated body of water.

Likewise, you might want to avoid swimming in salt water, too. In case your hair gets wet with chlorinated or salt water, rinse immediately with clean and fresh water.

How to wash

Showering with nano rings is easy. Just remember to comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb before you get in the shower. Make sure the water pressure is not enough that it pulls off or damages the extensions. Use a shampoo that is formulated for hair extensions, and condition, but avoid applying conditioner to the roots.

Regularly brush your hair

Avoid tangles by brushing your hair and the nano rings on a regular basis, but carefully. Consider investing in a high-quality hair extension detangling comb. When you’re ready to brush, gather your hair to one side of the head and hold it firmly in one hand. With your other hand, brush the ends of the extensions. By keeping a hand on the extensions, they should stay in place as you detangle matted ends. Work your way up gradually until you can release your grip and comb the rest of your hair.

Tie your hair before you sleep

Consider tying your hair in a loose braid to prevent the extensions from getting tangled while you’re asleep, especially if you tend to toss and turn a lot.
