Naphthalene Sulfonate or FDN-A is a naphthalene-based high concentrate superplasticizer and high range water reducer. It is also known as Naphthalene Sulfonate Formaldehyde Condensate (NSF), SNF, and PNS, etc.

Naphthalene Sulfonate is basically made of naphthalene with a lower amount of sulfuric acid, formalin, and alkali. It goes through a set of a critical chemical process starting from sulphuration. After the initial process, hydrolyzation, condensation and neutralization reaction are performed to shape the final product. It does not contain any chloride.

FDN-A is basically used for making flowable and steam-curing concrete. It has the capacity to bear a very low temperature such as 0 degree Celsius in its working environment.

There are certain advantages for using Naphthalene Sulfonate or FDN-A which are listed as follows:

•   It has a high water-reducing rate that can be over 25%. Water penetration and segregation can also be reduced to a considerable level and it increases concrete fluidity effectively.

•   Concrete stress can be reduced to a great extent by this product.

•   High applicability and compatibility are other key features that enable it to be used with a different variety of cement or other admixture. It can be used for a supplementary and catalytic purpose in different admixture.

•   It takes less than an hour for the setting.

•   It contains no explosive or flammable or toxic material that makes it safer.

•   It can either be used directly or as a solution with water with the utmost ease.

•   It contains a low amount of sodium sulfonate content.

Several precautions to be taken while handling Naphthalene                      Sulfonate:

•   While being transferred or moved the packages should be kept safe from sharp-ended objects to prevent any leakage.

•   Any leakage may cause contamination by high humidity or moisture. In such cases, it can be prepared in prescribed ways without losing its original properties.

•   It should be kept in a well-ventilated place and dry.
