Jessica Garza – My Nomad Way of Working
Recently, I’ve seen a
rise in remote working and freelancing around the world. However,
lately nomadic workers or say digital nomads are
on the rise.
I, Jessica Garza also been
a digital nomad for a long time now. For a long
time, I’ve been juggling between traveling and work – but in a
nice positive way.
My experience as a digital nomad
– so far so good. The reason behind this is that I follow a
system. There’s a lifestyle that I’ve built. A digital nomad lifestyle. A nomad way of working.
And that’s what I will share with you today.
First off, it's all
about crafting a harmonious balance. A balance between work and life,
adventure and productivity. And over the years of being a tech
nomad, I've honed a system that allows me to thrive in this kind
of lifestyle.
Routine, not Rigidity
While spontaneity is the spice of
nomadic life, having a routine forms the backbone of
productivity. I've crafted a flexible daily schedule. Work,
exploration, and personal time – that’s what I will sum my day into.
A few hours of focused work at
the start of the day is all you need to nail the rest of the day.
Plus the mind all stays fresh.
Afternoons are free for
exploration. I always look to indulge myself in the local
culture or pursue personal interests. In the evening, I wrap up
any remaining work, tying up loose ends and planning for the next day's adventures.
Tech-Savvy Essentials
Your office has to fit neatly
into a backpack. That’s what all digital nomads do. Go for a nomadic work toolkit. That’s where I became
successful as a tech nomad.
From lightweight laptops with
long battery life to portable Wi-Fi hotspots and noise-cancelling headphones,
keep it light. Easy to carry.
And it’s not just about
carrying stuff around. These tools also allow working efficiently from
virtually anywhere.
Strategic Planning
Careful planning and organizing
things on the go is important. And it becomes even
more important when you are traveling the world
while also working on the side.
For example,
if you’re going to a new place – research the
destination first, and take into account factors such as
cost of living, internet connectivity, and visa requirements.
Plan your travels
strategically. It’s not about being defensive
here but having a great strategy can help you maximize your
experience of travelling.
And that folks was my
nomad way of working. Routine, lightweight essentials, and beforehand planning
are what I do thus making my digital nomad experience
much greater. What about yours? Do tell me about your experiences.
Until then, peace out.
