The Jeep Wrangler Polar is an extreme 4x4 that is presented at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and will arrive in Europe in the first quarter of 2014. Based on the Jeep Wrangler Sahara and with a new exterior color called 'Hydro Blue', this special edition It will arrive with a body of two and four doors, although in Germany it is shown only with the latest configuration.

The Jeep Wrangler Polar is inspired by the severe weather and extreme conditions that characterize the coldest region on the planet. The 'Polar' badge, found on the side of the vehicle, next to the front fenders, shows coordinates 78 ° S and 106 ° E, which correspond to the location of Vostok, Antarctica, the exact point where has recorded the most severe absolute temperature in the world: -89.2 ° C.

The exterior of the new Jeep Wrangler Polar has unique features that help differentiate it aesthetically from the other models in the range. First of all the new front grille features the headlamp throats in striking gloss black. At the rear, the hard cover for the spare wheel is also redesigned. Jeep Wrangler led headlights  improve the appreance of the vehicle. A black Jeep logo above the front grille and exclusive new 18-inch alloy wheels make this model even more radical. The different exterior is completed by a sticker with mountains on the sides of the hood, as well as the fuel tank cap in black and Mopar origin.

The interior of this special version of the Jeep Wrangler features black leather seats with white stitching and embroidered 'Polar' logo on the top of the seatbacks. Standard equipment also includes heated front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and a black leather steering wheel trim with pearl white stitching. Other details in that pearl white are on the armrests and ventilation rings. For their part, instrument clocks contain a blue background and white numbers and graphics. All with the idea of creating the contrasting effect of light that can be glimpsed in Antarctic glaciers.

Designed to overcome the most difficult and slippery obstacles, the Jeep Wrangler Polar is equipped with the Dana 30 front axle and the Dana 44 rear axle. It has a reducer with a 2.72: 1 reduction ratio, in order to be able to face any offroad track with maximum safety. To assist in this task, the Wrangler Polar also comes standard with the Trac-Lok self-locking rear differential. This differential works to maintain traction when traveling on slippery surfaces, such as sand, gravel, snow, or ice. Automatically distributes available torque to the rear wheel with the most traction, helping to reduce spin on the wheel with less grip.

The new Jeep Wrangler Polar will be powered by the 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine paired with a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual, or by the 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine combined with a five-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.8-liter CRD engine delivers 200 horsepower at 3,600 rpm and 460 Nm of torque between 1,600-2,600 rpm. when combined with the automatic transmission. In models with a six-speed manual gearbox, the torque is 410 Nm between 2,600-3,200 rpm. The 3.6-liter gasoline engine offers 284 horsepower and 347 Nm of torque.
