How to Stay Connected to the Internet While Traveling?
I get this question a lot. And,
my answer to this typical question is not what most people out there would
answer.
Most people would say – get free
Wi-Fi on the go. From where? Where is this free Wi-Fi? They’d say in the cafés,
in the libraries, in the restaurants, or on the subway. And I’d ask them, is it
safe to use free open Wi-Fi?
What about my data privacy? Well,
I’m afraid to say this but with open Wi-Fi your data is not safe at all.
The primary issue lies in the
lack of security. Public Wi-Fi networks are frequently left unprotected,
leaving them vulnerable to interception by anyone sharing the network. This
exposes a wide range of sensitive information, including passwords, email correspondence,
financial transactions, and personal data, among other things.
Another concern is session
hijacking. When connected to an unprotected Wi-Fi network, skilled hackers can
infiltrate your ongoing sessions, granting them access to whatever activities
you're engaged in on your device. This possibility is undeniably alarming.
It's strongly advised to avoid
using public internet or public Wi-Fi altogether. This precaution is crucial
for safeguarding your privacy and security.
It's essential to understand and
communicate the associated risks to not only yourself but also to your friends,
family, and acquaintances. These risks are significant and can lead to
unimaginable consequences. The extent of personal data and financial losses
incurred due to Wi-Fi breaches is staggering.
Security measures are imperative
whenever connecting to the internet. Even if a public Wi-Fi network is password
protected, it remains susceptible to various threats and cyberattacks.
Stay vigilant at all times.
Occasionally, individuals leave their mobile Wi-Fi connections enabled, leading
to automatic connections to open Wi-Fi networks while on the move. This
oversight can have significant consequences. Remember to disable your phone's
Wi-Fi when not in use. Stay mindful of such situations and exercise greater
caution.
A better way to get internet
access while traveling is to use a personal Wi-Fi modem of yours, which you can
carry with you anywhere. One such modem is the Nomad
Internet’s Nomad Air Modem. The Wi-Fi modem comes with Wi-Fi 6 technology
and allows you to connect up to 128 devices at one time.
What’s best is its speed.
Lightning-fast internet of up to 200 mb/s. You can use this Wi-Fi modem in any
part of the United States. The Wi-Fi signals never stop coming no matter in
which remote location, rural area, or isolated area you are.
