How to Get Admitted To A B.Tech Degree If You Are A Diploma Holder
A B.Tech or a Bachelors in Technology degree is the most sought after
degree for students who are interested in studying engineering and technology,
and since a lot of students in the country look toward achieving the same
degree, this mad rush creates a lot of competition among the students who are
looking forward to studying B.Tech in the near future and those students who
aspire to be successful engineers in future. This also boosts the education
sector wherein we can see almost everyday there is a new university or a new
college that mushrooms up in a new locality, and however much competition
prevails among the students, it is a much bigger competition which is faced by
the colleges and universities. In this case, if we look at the statistics
properly, and be honest to ourselves, there is not much scope for people who
have been studying for a diploma course since they would be steamrolled by the
students who have a better and a shinier degree.
Students who are meritorious and show actual interest into studying a
B.Tech degree can actually be admitted in the middle of the course by a lateral
entry system, and this stands true only for students who are currently pursuing
their diploma course. Students who have done their schooling in a higher
secondary level, that is, their 10+2 level, and have cleared it with at least
60% of marks and who have studied science and mathematics in their +2 level may
pursue a diploma course of engineering which happens for a year and directly
get a B.Tech admission for diploma
holders in the second year. The most premier institutions of the nation
have provided for this scheme for providing a lateral entry admission for engineering to all the bright students
who can still finish their course in three years and six semesters.
Eligibility criterion for a lateral entry:
1.
All the
pupils who have finished their first year of their B.Tech course from any
certified university or have completed their diploma of three years after their
higher secondary level with at least 60% marks in a science and mathematics
background.
2.
Those
students who are yet to appear for their final examination in their diploma
course can apply for a direct admission to the second year engineering course,
with a prerequisite condition that they would be producing a provisional
certificate during the time of admission.
Dehradun Institute of Technology has a provision for a lateral entry
for engineering courses in case the pupil concerned is meritorious as well as
interested. The duration of graduation remains the same, but the pupil gets an
entry to a degree course rather than a diploma course. Since the student would
not have to pay any fees for the first year, the grand total of the fees for
the rest of the six semesters is around five lakh sixty thousand rupees.
