HOW INDIA IS BECOMING “ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT”
The year 2020 will be imprinted on everyone’s
mind for many generations. Everyone will remember this year because of a single
virus that created the disaster in the entire world. The COVID-19 has not only
killed people but also affected the economy. A lot of course of actions were
taken by the countries to bring the economy back on track and India was no
special case to it.
On May 12th, 2020 our honourable
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the Indian citizens to become “Atmanirbhar”
or self-reliant. The proposal of Atmanirbhar Bharat will not only help in
rescuing the Indian economy post-pandemic but also set the base for Indian
domination in the world economy. What caused this sudden change in mentality? The
first case of COVID-19 was found in China and after that, it slowly started
spreading in the entire world. After six months, the Chinese economy was almost
back to normal but the entire world is still struggling with COVID-19. That is
why the world is thinking if China can do this, why not us?
One of the advantages that China had initially was
that many well-known multinational companies had their manufacturing units set
up in China. But COVID-19 made them realize that it is the time to shift their
company from China and settle somewhere else where there are assets to
reconstruct their empire. India is a country that can help those countries.
India can surely create an environment that can entice
companies to leave China. India has the manpower and resources required by the
businesses to move forward on the path of progress. The focus of the Atmanirbhar
Bharat scheme is on creating job opportunities for Indians and inviting global
companies to set their units in the country. To make this campaign a success, government
is focusing on some key areas which are promoting local vendors and businesses,
educating them and providing proper skillset to the workers.
INDIAN E-COMMERCE FOCUSING ON ‘ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT’
The Indian retail sector has already succeeded in
the global sector. Indian online shopping sites are already prospering
in the Indian market as the local sellers are ready to grab every opportunity coming
in their way. The aim of this campaign is to strengthen the local businesses
that have been affected by the global pandemic. Even the country youth is creating
social media campaigns to promote the idea of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and asking
other people to boycott foreign products. As per the above statement, it is pretty
clear that the digital marketing sector is facing huge amounts of changes. The demand
for website designing is increasing as Indian companies are looking forward to
substantial growth. The biggest change has been observed in the behaviours of
online shoppers as they are enquiring about the manufacturing industry and the
“Make in India” tags before purchasing any product from the online shopping
site. They have started promoting “Make in India” products by posting reviews about
them and telling about them to their friends and relatives.
A shocker came for the Indians when the central
government was in need of funds to deal with the COVID-19 crisis and no foreign
company supported them. It was only Indian companies who came forward for help.
The Wipro pledged Rs.1125 crore, Tata Group pledged Rs.1500 crore and Mahindra
& Mahindra offered its manufacturing units to make ventilators. After such
generous donations by Indian companies, people realized that they cannot depend
on foreign countries in times of need.
Gone are the days when India used to depend on other
countries for its requirements. The COVID-19 crisis has changed the thinking of
Indians and they have understood the significance of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
