There are lots of transportation services available between Heathrow and Gatwick. This article gives you a wide range of options to choose the best means of transportation. There are National Express coaches, airport transfer taxi services, train and underground links.

National Express Coach

Since there is no direct rail connecting Heathrow and Gatwick, road transport is usually preferred between the two. National Express coaches are frequently available and will take a 15-minute walk from terminal 1 and 3 to reach the bus station. £25 per person is charged for a one-way trip. Each person is allowed to a carry a maximum of two suitcases and no more than that. On taking surfboards, folding bikes, etc. the passengers are supposed to seek the permission of the coach drivers. Except guide dogs, no other animals are allowed to travel alongside the passengers.

Airport Transfer Taxi Services

There are plenty of licensed airport transfer private cab services available to make your journey comfortable and easier. Since, most of the licensed cab services offer the facility of pre-booking, the passengers can avoid the last minute rush while travelling from Heathrow to Gatwick. The duration of the journey doesn't exceed more than 45 minutes. The private cabs might advertise the fares somewhere around £65-70. But standard saloon cars are alone available for this cost. There are hidden charges involved for Meet & Greet, waiting and additional car parking fees. Henceforth, it is advisable to check the services before booking. A standard saloon car might be suitable only for family with members less than 4. It's best to opt for a minivan as it benefits the family of four and more than 3 suitcases. Of course, the charges are 50% more than the standard saloon taxis as it costs £80-85 for a family.

There are also 5 and 6 seat Black Taxi cabs accessible at the entrance of Heathrow airport terminals. The disabled passengers can use the special ramps if needed. Although the black taxi cabs accept credit cards, it is recommended to fix the prices before starting your journey to avoid unnecessary confusions pertaining to costs after reaching your destination. The black taxis offer more space for luggage. But the charges might exceed £100 and it is not easy to get a cab during peak hours due to huge crowds.
