If you're a wine connoisseur, you know that the temperature of your cellar environment plays a big role in how your wine tastes. The optimal cellar temperature for storing wines is usually around 55 degrees Fahrenheit, while white wines should be kept between 45 and 50 F.

We've done our research and found that there are two main options: wine cellars and wine coolers. Both are great options for storing your bottles of vino, but there are some important differences between them that you should consider before making your decision. Keep reading!

Wine Cellar.

A wine cellar is a room, or set of rooms, in a house designed specifically for the storage of wine. Wine cellars provide constant temperature and humidity, as well as protection from light (which can degrade some wines) and theft.

In general, they are built underground; but they may also be above ground either in an attached structure or within the building itself. Some are even built into hillsides if there is enough space.

Wine Cooler.

The cooler is more affordable, practical, and functional.

If you're looking for a custom wine cellar that will keep your bottles at their perfect temperature without costing too much money, then the cooler is the way to go. A good cooler will cost anywhere from $200-$2,000 depending on its size and features.

The average price tag for a wine cellar is around $10,000 but if you're just starting out in collecting wines there's no need for such an extravagant investment when there are other options available that can do just as good of a job without breaking the bank (or your pocket).

Bottom Line.

Both options will keep your wine at the perfect temperature, but a cellar is a more permanent investment. While coolers can be moved or taken apart if necessary, they are not as durable as cellars.

If you're looking for something that will last forever and look great in any room of your property, then go with the custom wine cellar!
