Bangladesh Non-Profit Looks To Extend Child Malnutrition Efforts: New Report
Despite the major strides Bangladesh has made towards solving the child malnutrition crisis, it is still one of the country’s most pressing issues. This is why Lotus Ministry Trust is dedicated to expanding the reach and impact of its child malnutrition initiative.
In a new report, Lotus Ministry Trust breaks down its current nutrition, community education, and sustainable farming efforts in Bangladesh, sizing up new strategies that will make its programs more effective for local communities.
Tackling Bangladesh's Ongoing Food Crisis
Lotus Ministry Trust is on a mission to bring meaningful change to the lives of children and their families by giving them access to the basic necessities.
By evaluating its child malnutrition initiative for areas of improvement, the non-profit hopes to improve its operations and have a bigger impact on Bangladesh's ongoing food crisis.
As the Bangladeshi national statistics featured in Lotus Ministry Trust’s report indicate, growth stunting affects around 36% of children under five, while underweight children account for about 33% of the under-five population.
Fixing The Root Causes Of Child Malnutrition
Lotus Ministry Trust highlights the root causes of child malnutrition in Bangladesh, from poverty, poor infant feeding practices, and a lack of education, to environmental factors like frequent floods and cyclones. The report then showcases how the non-profit’s culturally appropriate food provisions, nutrition education workshops, and farming training address those root causes.
While Lotus Ministry Trust’s report shows off its successes (e.g. a 10% reduction in stunting rates at targeted districts and overwhelmingly positive testimonials from locals), it also addresses significant setbacks such as the logistical challenges of reaching remote, rural areas and the lack of infrastructure.
Ultimately, Lotus Ministry Trust resolves to add more mobile health units, take advantage of mobile apps and online platforms for outreach, adapt better to traditional dietary practices, and collaborate with local and international partners to increase the impact of its child malnutrition efforts.
Bringing Meaningful, Tangible Change To Children’s Lives
Since 2021, Lotus Ministry Trust has brought food and education relief to the local districts of Bangladesh, looking to support the country's most vulnerable populations. By embracing technology and social media, the non-profit continues to fight for practical yet meaningful change.
“Lotus Ministry Trust has demonstrated that by employing innovative solutions, adapting to local needs, and fostering strong partnerships, it is possible to make a tangible difference in the lives of children and their families,” said a spokesperson for the non-profit.
