Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring two forms of identification before granting access to an account. Even if a hacker steals your password, they won’t be able to log in without the second authentication factor, which is often a code sent to your phone or generated by an authentication app.

  • iPhone and Android: Many services, including iCloud, Google, and banking apps, offer 2FA. Enable it wherever possible to protect your accounts. Use apps like Google Authenticator or Authy for even stronger security, as these apps generate time-sensitive codes that are required to log in.

  • Laptop and Desktop: Enable 2FA for all accounts you access through your computer, including email, social media, and cloud services like Dropbox or Google Drive. Most platforms offer 2FA options through SMS or authentication apps. For enterprise-level protection, consider hardware keys like YubiKey, which provide an even stronger layer of protection.
