Home Decor Conundrum
For me, kitchens have to be sleek, chic and clutter-free. Mention rustic farmhouse kitchen and I start imagining dusty woodgrain, copper pans hanging from the ceiling and a musty smell that no amount of baking can overcome.
But he had his heart set on creating a rustic feel to our home. How to solve this battle of the decors? How to resolve our apparent desire to live in different time periods? What could possibly reconcile organic craftsmanship with slick modern style?
Ok, so maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but it really did feel like we were never going to come up with a solution. Everything we liked, the other hated. The only thing we could agree on is that we wanted our home to be as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible. Which put me at a disadvantage: there’s way more rustic furniture available second hand than high-quality modern pieces.

Our Dream Table
