There are five types of air purifiers. You can choose which one suits you best.

1. HEPA: This air purifier is the most prestigious and removes 99.97% allergens, including pollen and pet dander. This is a great option for those suffering from allergies or asthma and looking to find relief.

The pros: HEPA filter removes contaminants other filters can't. It also removes allergens.

Cons: HEPA filters can be costly to buy and maintain due to their high-quality materials. A filter replacement is required every six months.

2. The Electrostatic precipitator: This purifier is ideal for people with respiratory problems. Its filters are designed to eliminate particles and allergens in the air before they can be inhaled.

The pros: Electrostatic precipitators are less expensive than HEPA models, but you will still need to replace your filter every six months. They don't irritate or disturb allergies.

Cons: Electrostatic precipitators do not remove gases such as formaldehyde and ammonia from the air. Because they are not powered by batteries, they need to be plugged into a power source.

3. UV: This air purifier uses UV light to kill bacteria and viruses.

The pros: It is simple to use and can be easily replaced with inexpensive filters. It doesn't collect dust like other models with their fans.

Cons: They don't remove particles or gases from the air like HEPA models.

4. Ionic Purifiers: Ionic purifiers use electrostatic attraction to remove allergens and dust from the air. It can remove pet dander and allergens, making it a great choice for people with asthma or allergies.

The pros: Ionic purifiers can be cheaper than HEPA models and the filter can be easily replaced. It doesn't produce dust like other models with their fans.

Cons: Ionic air purifiers can only be used with a power source.

5. UV/Ionic: This combination of UV and Ionic purifiers is a great option for people who want to eliminate allergens and irritants. These models will also require an ozone generator, which is not included in the price.

The pros: Both ionic and UV purifiers are effective in eliminating allergens, irritants from pets or smoking as well as gases such as formaldehyde.

Cons: These models cost the most of all five on the list. These filters will need to be plugged in and a costly ozone generator purchased. You will need to replace the filters more frequently than an ionic or UV purifier.

The type of purifier that you need will depend on the amount of dust and dirt you want to remove. HEPA purifiers are a good option if you have asthma or allergies. An ionic purifier is better for pet allergy sufferers.
