Pittsburgh area College Planner 'The College Advisor' Celebrates Its 1st Year

The College Advisor is celebrating their 1st Anniversary, which commemorates an amazing year in business. This is a huge milestone for the Wexford-based College Planning business, the local office of The College Authority, a national College Planning company which has provided College Planning to Parents of High School students since 1995.

The College Advisor got it's start in 2014 when founder William Porti realized that most families did not have a good understanding of the college admission and financial aid process. Mr Porti had experience with larger financial planning firms and realized that parents were tapping into their retirement savings in order to pay huge tuition bills for their students. He knew there had to be a better way, and he set out to find it, and deliver it.

One of the earliest challenges The College Advisor faced was that most families did not have any idea a service like this existed.

While every business of course faces challenges, some, like The College Advisor are fortunate enough to enjoy real successes, wins and victories too. One such victory came when they surpassed their goal and over 200 families consulted with The College Advisor in their first year..

William Porti, Managing Partner at The College Advisor, was also quoted when discussing another big win. “One of the high points of The College Advisor's history so far was that the average student using our system received an aid package in excess of $26,000 per year. That is $104,000 over 4 years of college."
