5 Easy Ways To Get Your Creative Juices Going

Writing an article or blog doesn’t just mean putting down thoughts into words and writing it down. You have to capture the interest of your readers and then keep them reading. To get your message across, you have to  pique their curiosity, but how many times have you found yourself pulling out hair because you just can’t seem to get those creative juices flowing.

Painting  an image with words is an art. A clear and crisp depiction requires a unique & personal perspective. Using a simile here and a metaphor there may help, but the path your paragraph takes will determine the readers final understanding of the article.

So just what to do when nothing comes to mind? There are no perfect ideas but here are a few simple ways to get your creative juices flowing….

1) Keep a diary or a journal with you always. Ideas can be triggered by every day experiences or just in something you hear, see, & smell. Forming a habit of jotting on a note pad or a note app on your phone or ipad is a great way to have a ready-made idea for slow days. Remember that an idea can come from anywhere, but its the personalized creativity used to express it, that makes it unique, interesting & readable.

2) Relax. Take time to sort things out. A jumbled mind makes it hard to express a new idea. Get rid of distractions & obstacles that can be a hindrance to your creativity. If you are bothered by something, it will be hard to stay focused

3) Create a working space that inspires your creativity. Try to consider your comfort zones. Are you able to focus with a cup of tea & your lap top on the couch, or is it better for you to sit at a desk with doors closed & some good tunes drowning out the distractions on the other side of the wall?  Always keep your working area organized & uncluttered.

4) Set the mood, because your mood will influence your writing. Choose your surroundings to reflect the mood you want your readers to pick up on – a park might be relaxing, or a coffee shop thought provoking & studious for your more educational notes. A great time to set the broken funny bone is right after a good & hearty laugh. (I have been known to use Youtube for this purpose) Set the pace and tempo for your mood and everything else will flow freely.

5) Take a Stay-cation or enjoy a local tourist attraction. This can change things up a bit and add a new perspective for you. Its also a great place to people watch, which is actually my favorite way to get inspired. Physical activity and having fun produces adrenaline & other mind moving juices that can make your imagination an effective money making tool, once again.

These are just a few ideas, but rest assured, as you get more familiar with your own writing style, your own inspirational habits will form, so be blessed, be encouraged & always be yourself!
