The objectives of cyber security and ethical hacking are the same i.e. to ensure data security. However, their approaches are different from one another.

The major distinctions between these two are as follows:

A cyber security testing company identifies and resolves security issues in the system for data protection. On the other hand, ethical hacking security testing includes searching weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the systems, which the malicious attackers can use. Ethical hackers also report these weaknesses to the owner and fix these.

A cyber security expert keeps updating the system to ensure that the system remains updated. An ethical hacker continuously tests the system to detect certain lacunas in the system.

Cyber security service providers offer cyber penetration testing services and work as security analysts. Ethical hackers work as security managers and penetration testers.

Cyber security experts provide cyber penetration testing services. A pen test or penetration testing service is a kind of cyber security assessment, which is specifically designed for safely exploiting and recognizing vulnerabilities that affect websites, applications, systems, and networks. The idea is to discover weaknesses and address them to mitigate the threat of a malicious attack.
