Image Pranksters must always be responsible for their actions, they say.

Truthfully, pranks like shock toys can shock one to no end especially if you hand over the unsuspecting victim a pen which when opened causes a zap loud enough to make them jump.

A harmless leap in fright is no cause to fret unless the victim is so frail that the individual needs medical assistance after the practical joke is over and done.

Play on people’s weaknesses or dislikes by all means but stop short of total humiliation. This is the advice given to lovers of shenanigans, yet jokesters do go a bit far – farther than what decorum may dictate.

Leave alone what shock toys can do temporarily in a gathering, in a profound sense being duped holds up a mirror to people. A concoction of annoyance, self-blame, and resentment forces an uncomfortable feeling of self awareness.

How did I get into this? How did I miss my blind spots?

Practical jokes are “enjoyed” purely for its own sake as an entertaining form of social play. Handy humor most frequently originates in informal settings like in friends’ group, close acquaintances, or in an office environment.

Pranks are getaways from serious goal oriented activities we are busy with most of the day.

During a prank, participants temporarily dissociate themselves from any serious conversations. And this is a good thing. A disconnect or an abandon can do a whale of good – a welcome cool-off from anxiety and stress.

Sociologists say practical jokes perform an important additional function- enhances group cohesiveness. When you laugh with new acquaintances you strengthen social bonds. And when you laugh with older associates you temper success with humility. Possibly this is the reason bosses are frequent targets in office shenanigans.

Nonetheless, pranks must not replace social and friendly activity by hostile and malicious intent. Exercise common sense when you use shock toys. Understand the emotive make-up of the victim.

On another note, is it true that a feeling of “I should have known” serves to highlight our own shortcomings?

Some researches reveal that counterfactual insight kick-starts new manners, new self–searching, and most of all, self improvement. After all, we as human beings are prone to think how things could have turned out differently.

Diversity is anyway a good thing. In a serious context having people in our midst with diverse beliefs, customs and likings expands our horizons. In order to have pleasant and intellectual interactions it is essential we experience some form of multiplicity and variety in our daily lives.

Moreover, we must remember violations of etiquette are not necessarily moral indiscretions. A prank now and then helps. Shock toys may generate laughter when it shocks the victim. But they also spawn stories that can be told at subsequent gatherings.

We often work and live in a stiff atmosphere – in work environments regulated by inflexible ethics and codes. A practical joke offers us an opportunity to reevaluate the basis of moral codes we adopt in our daily lives.

Someone may feel discomfort or embarrassed when stink bombs like party black sheep are displayed at a party. But the benefits seem to outweigh the inconvenience caused – by far.
