Duolingo Permanently Accepted for Study Visa in Ireland

Good news for international students who are struggling with IELTS and TOEFL to study in Ireland. Duolingo English test is now Permanently accepted as eligibility for obtaining a Study Visa for Ireland. This decision comes after the language learning application, Duolingo test was put on the list as a temporary requirement 18 months ago. The decision was mainly supported by the overwhelming move to online testing as a result of the Covid pandemic.

Common English language exams accepted before as a requirement of a student visa for Ireland include IELTS and TOEFL among 12 others. Due to the pandemic, the situation has changed for students. The English language test Duolingo has also been made a permanent to accept with the minimum English language level for Student Visas in Ireland. The test requires students to obtain a minimum score of 55 points for a second level and foundation level or preparatory English course and 75 points for all other courses

There are already more than 3,500 programs that accept the Duolingo English Test. This number continues to increase because more and more universities, countries, and companies are finding that availability is vital for achieving their goals. Ireland views the use of the Duolingo English Test to access immigration or higher education pathways, as an extension of its mission of reducing barriers.
